Getting Started

 Getting started with us is simple. Contact us at plantfitpdx@gmail.com to schedule a free fitness consultation. We will discuss your personal goals, then get all the details to develop a plan to get you there. We will then take your through a simple exercise routine to assess your current fitness level. After that, we will recommend the next steps to take. Whether it is one-on-one personal training or group classes that you are interested in, we have the necessary means to help you achieve your personal best.

 The PlantFit training methodology is unlike many other fitness programs out there. We implement various tools to help our clients reach their fitness goals, from nutrition counseling to expert coaching on complex movements. Our program is comprised of Olympic weightlifting, cardiovascular conditioning, power lifting, kettlebells and basic gymnastics movements—we don’t do machines, and we don’t do fad diets.

We focus our attention on being extremely effective at coaching our clients to move efficiently to realize their athletic potential and achieve their fitness goals as quickly as possible. To ensure that all of our clients are provided with every opportunity to succeed, after the initial consultation, we require everyone to get started at PlantFit Training Studio in one of three ways: Foundations CoursePrivate Coaching (Foundations One on One), or by Testing Out.

PlantFit Foundations Course

Our PlantFit Foundations Course is designed for the generally active, injury free individual who wants to  ultimately train in one of our ongoing Level 1 Group Classes. In this class, you will be exposed to our movement curriculum in a group format. Movement techniques will be drilled as well as a progressive introduction to the intensity levels that are inherent in our Level 1 Group Classes. This class is ideal for you if your needs and goals include:

  • weight loss and improved body composition
  • increased strength and power
  • improved cardiovascular fitness
  • increased flexibility
  • knowledge of performance nutrition
  • increased stamina, speed, and endurance
  • improved agility, balance, and coordination

The Foundations Workshops meet 3 times a week for 4 consecutive weeks, starting on the first Monday of every month. Class size is limited to 8 athletes. The movement curriculum is sequential and attendance to all sessions is fundamental to your gaining the necessary proficiency to attend our group classes. Please note, if you have pre-existing injuries or are deconditioned, additional private coaching sessions may be required before moving into our fast-paced Group Classes.

Private Coaching: Foundations One on One

Are you ready to start doing Group Class workouts, but can’t attend one of our Foundations Group Workshops because of scheduling constraints? If so, sign up for our Foundations One on One series, which is six 50 minute sessions of one-on-one coaching. During these sessions, which you and your coach will determine times that work, you will build your general fitness base and gain familiarity with our movements with the goal to prepare you to join our fast-paced Group Classes. You will find the greatest success starting PlantFit with private coaching if:

  • you have generally been sedentary
  • you need extra accountability
  • you are new to exercise
  • you have an orthopedic injury
  • you have specific performance oriented goals (triathlon, basketball, etc.)
  • you are pregnant or have just had a child

Your coach will tailor workouts specifically for your current fitness level and progress you at the proper pace for you. Testing Out

If you feel confident and comfortable performing basic gymnastics movements (i.e. pull-ups, dips, handstands) power lifts and Olympic lifts (ie. clean and jerk, snatch, deadlift, squat), you can request to test out of the PlantFit Foundations Course and gain immediate access to our Level 1 Group Class Sessions. Call us to schedule a time to come in and demonstrate your competence with one of our coaches. We have extremely high standards, so if you are unsure as to whether you are a candidate for testing out, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of our Foundations Course. Price: $50 for a 1-hour test.
